Did you know that the majority of adults experience lower back pain at least some point in their lifetime? It’s true – according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, approximately 80 percent of all adults feel pain.
Unfortunately, back pain in adults has grown worse in the past few years. According to a recent study, back pain had jumped from sixth place to third place in ten short years as one of the most challenging conditions in the United States. The only diseases that topped back pain are ischemic heart disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Which makes you wonder – why is this pain so prevalent? And how can we treat it?
What Causes Back Pain?
Lower back pain usually occurs in the lumbar region, which supports much of your upper body weight. It is made up of a group of intervertebral discs – round, rubbery pads that act like shock absorbers throughout the spinal column. Every time you move, these pads cushion your bones. And as you can imagine, all that movement can cause a lot of wear and tear to these discs.
Some of the most common causes of lower back pain include:
- Sprains and strains
- Degeneration in the intervertebral discs
- A ruptured or herniated disc
- Radiculopathy (inflammation, injury, and/or compression to a spinal nerve root)
- Skeletal irregularities
How is Lower Back Pain Usually Treated?
If you see your doctor for back pain, you will go through a series of tests to make sure there are no underlying conditions that can be causing the pain, such as osteoporosis. You could be facing x-rays, a CT scan, MRI, bone scans, and many other expensive tests. And even after all these tests, it still can be challenging to determine what is causing your pain.
Normal treatment for back pain includes medication, physical therapy, hot and cold packs, and possibly surgery if there’s some damage to the spine. But what if there’s a better way?
Can Far Infrared Therapy Treat Back Pain?
The answer is yes! There’s research that shows it can be a safe, non-invasive, and, most important, effective treatment for this type of pain.
According to a cohort study published in the National Center for Biotechnology Information, 50 subjects who suffered from back pain for the past six months using an FIR pad on their chairs at work over a four-week period for approximately 45 minutes each day. The results showed that there were significant changes both physically and mentally to the subjects. And the best part? There were no adverse side effects.
How Gladiator Therapeutics Can Help
The patented ceramics embedded in our Far Infrared Devices transmit far infrared energy into the body. That energy causes the water clusters in your blood to vibrate and break apart. The smaller the water clusters, the easier it will be for the blood to move through the vessel. Faster blood flow lessens the inflammation and eases your back pain.
Our devices require no power; there are no side effects and is non-invasive.
